## 1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how WikiNap ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our mobile application SleepWiki (the "App"). SleepWiki is an iOS application that provides relaxing Wikipedia-based reading content accompanied by ambient sounds to support sleep and relaxation.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy.

---

## 2. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to:

- The SleepWiki iOS application available on the Apple App Store
- All features, functionalities, and services offered within the App
- Data processed through the App, including data shared with third-party services we use

This Privacy Policy does not apply to:

- Third-party websites, applications, or services that you may access through links within the App (such as Wikipedia articles opened in a browser)
- Information collected by Apple Inc. in connection with your use of the App Store
- Any practices of third parties we do not own or control

---

## 3. Information We Collect

### 3.1 Information Collected Automatically (On Your Device)

The App stores certain information locally on your device to provide and improve the user experience. This data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. Such information includes:

- **Onboarding status**: Whether you have completed the initial onboarding flow
- **Daily usage metrics**: The number of content passes (swipes) you have used in the current day, used solely to enforce the free-tier usage limit
- **App settings**: Your preferences for reading length (short, medium, long), reading mode (factual or soothing), topic preferences, Wikipedia language, default ambient sound, and volume levels
- **Recent topics**: A locally cached list of recently displayed Wikipedia topics (up to 50 entries) to improve loading performance
- **Favorites**: Topics you have marked as favorites
- **Recent search terms**: Search queries you have entered, organized by Wikipedia language, to provide search suggestions and improve usability
- **Cached images**: Thumbnail and article images downloaded from Wikipedia and stored temporarily on your device to reduce data usage and improve performance

None of the above data is sent to our servers. It remains on your device and can be deleted when you uninstall the App.

### 3.2 Information Provided Through Third-Party Services

When you use certain features of the App, data may be transmitted to and processed by third-party service providers. We describe these below.

#### 3.2.1 RevenueCat (Premium Subscriptions)

If you choose to purchase a premium subscription, the App uses RevenueCat, a third-party service, to manage in-app purchases and subscription status. RevenueCat may collect:

- **Device identifiers**: Anonymous identifiers used to recognize your device for subscription validation (e.g., RevenueCat anonymous user IDs)
- **Purchase and subscription data**: Information about products you purchase, subscription status, and transaction history
- **App and device metadata**: App version, operating system version, and device type for compatibility and support purposes

RevenueCat processes this data to deliver subscription management, restore purchases, and prevent fraud. RevenueCat’s collection and use of data is governed by its own Privacy Policy, which we encourage you to review: [<https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy>](<https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy>).

**Note**: Actual payment processing is handled by Apple. We do not collect or store your payment card details. All payment information is processed securely by Apple’s payment systems.

#### 3.2.2 Wikipedia (Content Delivery)

The App fetches article summaries, images, and reading content from Wikipedia and its affiliated projects (e.g., Wikimedia Commons) through the Wikipedia REST API and MediaWiki API. When the App requests content from Wikipedia:

- **Search queries**: If you use the in-app search feature, your search terms are sent to Wikipedia’s servers to retrieve relevant articles
- **Article requests**: When the App loads content, it sends requests for specific article titles and page IDs
- **Technical request data**: Each request includes a standard User-Agent string identifying the App (e.g., "SleepWiki/1.0 (iOS)") and standard HTTP request metadata

Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Foundation may log these requests in accordance with their own policies. Their Privacy Policy is available at: [<https://foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Privacy_policy>](<https://foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Privacy_policy>).

We do not control Wikipedia’s data practices. The content displayed in the App (article text, images, links) is provided by Wikipedia and is subject to Wikipedia’s terms and licenses.

#### 3.2.3 Apple Inc.

The App is distributed through the Apple App Store. When you download or update the App, Apple may collect information such as your Apple ID, device information, and purchase history. Apple’s privacy practices are described in its Privacy Policy: [<https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/>](<https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/>).

Data stored locally on your device (settings, favorites, recent topics, cached images, onboarding status, and daily usage metrics) remains on your device until you:

- Delete the App (which removes all stored data)
- Manually clear the App’s data through your device settings
- Override it through normal App use (e.g., new favorites replace old ones; cache is managed automatically)

### 5.2 Third-Party Retention

Data held by RevenueCat, Wikipedia, and Apple is subject to their respective retention policies. We encourage you to review their privacy policies for details.

### 5.3 No Central Server Storage

We do not operate backend servers that store your personal data. Aside from data processed by the third-party services described above, your information remains on your device.

---

## 6. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the security of your data:

- **Local data**: Data stored on your device benefits from the security features of iOS, including encryption at rest (when your device is locked) and app sandboxing
- **Network communications**: The App uses HTTPS for all network requests to Wikipedia and RevenueCat
- **Third-party security**: We rely on established, reputable service providers (RevenueCat, Wikipedia, Apple) that maintain their own security measures

Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

---

## 7. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete that information.
